Nigerian dancer Benjamin Daniel Gabriel, popularly known as Ben Dancer, has completed a 168-hour dance marathon in Lagos in an attempt to establish a new Guinness World Records mark.
The 33-year-old began the endurance challenge at Freedom Park on September 21 and completed the seven-day target.
The attempt attracted spectators and significant attention online, with supporters gathering at Freedom Park as the challenge progressed.
The published Guinness record for the longest individual dance marathon was 127 hours, set by India's Srushti Sudhir Jagtap in 2023.
However, completing the physical challenge does not automatically mean a Guinness World Records title has been awarded.
The organisation still has to examine evidence and determine whether all requirements were satisfied.
Whatever the final verdict, the attempt has put Nigerian contemporary dance, endurance performance and African creative talent before an international audience.
